Conference bias ruined Wazzu chances, AD says

Washington State athletic director Pat Chun says the Cougars should have been safely off to a New Year's Six bowl -- most likely the Fiesta -- but instead they will play No. 24 Iowa State in the Alamo Bowl.

Gaskin's 3 TDs lead Huskies past Cougars (1:30)

With Washington's win in the Apple Cup, the Pac-12's playoff hopes are over, as the conference champion (Washington or Utah) will have three losses. The Big 12, though, is still alive and Oklahoma has a second chance this season to show the selection committee it can beat Texas, this time in the conference championship game. OU's best-case scenario would be for Ohio State to win the Big Ten because the Sooners have a better chance to get in at the expense of the Buckeyes than Michigan — though nothing is a guarantee.

Snow Dawgs: No. 16 Washington topples No. 7 Wazzu 28-15

Myles Gaskin broke free for an 80-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, and No. 16 Washington won its second Pac-12 North Division title in three years, beating No. 7 Washington State 28-15 on a snowy Friday night.

Washington RB Myles Gaskin becomes the first player in Pac-12 history to rush for 1,000 yards in four seasons on a possibly back-breaking 80-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.

This is shaping up to be one of the most memorable Apple Cups in history. It's only the eighth time ever the game has been a matchup of ranked teams and how this ends, in the snow, in Pullman, will be a fixture in Apple Cup highlights for years.

Joel Anderson ESPN

It probably was a long shot because of the driving snow and *college kickers* but you wonder if Washington State is going regret not even attempting a FG at the end of the half. It'd have been a 41-yarder and kicker Blake Mazza is 10 of 15 this year, with a long of 50. Instead Gardner Minshew virtually punted it into the end zone and the Huskies escaped the scoring threat.

Williams rushes in for 11-yard Cougars TD (0:25)

We're now at the point in the Apple Cup where players are trying to kick the snow off the turf here at Martin Stadium, hoping to make it a little less slick. They're not having much luck so far.
