Newly-hired Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is looking to fill out his staff. From what I'm hearing, some names under consideration are: LBs — Blake Williams, his son; DBs — Dennard Wilson (retained from previous Jets staff); DL Clyde Simmons. Assistant DBs — Steve Jackson (previous Jets staff). Simmons and Williams were with Williams last season in Cleveland. Wilson and Jackson coached with Williams in previous stops. Kris Kocurek was eyed for the DL job (he coached under Adam Gase last year in Miami), but he was hired by San Francisco.

Why Gregg Williams? New Jets coach Adam Gase explained his decision to hire the controversial Williams as his defensive coordinator, saying, "He was always a challenge, always loved the way his guys played, the intensity they played with. They defended every blade of grass. I mean, they would always get after it. It was always really tough to move the ball, it was tough to get in the end zone and you knew you were in for a 60-minute battle. His guys always just always played exactly the way you want a defense to play." (Via SiriusXM NFL radio)

Five moves we want to see the rest of this offseason

Corey Kluber and A.J. Pollock turning the Reds into contenders? A swap of former No. 1 prospects? Dallas Keuchel teaming up with Manny or Bryce? Here's how we're hoping the rest of the hot stove season plays out.

Kevin Knox was asked about his comfort level in playing 44 minutes and shooting 23 shots vs. Philly. (He scored a career-high 31 points on 12-for-23 shooting in the loss on Sunday). Knox veered off topic during the answer and started talking about his defense: "Shooting a lot of shots, you've got to be able to do the other things as well, as far as dirty work. Rebounding. Helping defensively and stuff like that… So I'm just trying to get better. I'm definitely going to make a lot of defensive mistakes but I definitely want to get better as the year goes on. I'm going to be able to take a lot of shots but I've got to be able to help my teammates on the other end."

Knicks rookie Kevin Knox on scoring a career-high 31 points vs. Philly: "It just shows that I've got a lot of room left to improve. I'm only 19," Knox said Sunday. "I just want to keep getting better, keep learning every single year. Keep improving different aspects of my game. It's cool to see but we've just got to try to get that win. All the points don't really matter (without it)."
